Overview of CRISPR-Cas System

The CRISPR-Cas system is derived from the adaptive immune system of microorganisms such as bacteria, archaea and fungi, and consists of a combination of guide RNA and Cas enzymes. As an emerging technology in the field of biomolecules, it can be used both as a gene editing tool for precise manipulation and as a sensitive and efficient analyte detection tool.

Principle of Detection Method Development

In the field of bioanalysis, some Cas proteins (Cas12, Cas13 and Cas14) have "attachment cleavage" activity, which allows non-specific cleavage of free nucleic acids in the environment, including fluorescent reporter molecules, and have been developed as efficient, fast, low-cost and highly sensitive molecular detection tools, such as CRISPR biosensors and detection kits for applications in disease diagnosis, food safety, and environmental contaminant monitoring.
