Neurological Diseases Diagnosis

Nervous system diseases refer to diseases that occur in the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system and are mainly manifested by sensory, motor, consciousness, and neurological dysfunction. Chronic diseases account for the majority of neurological diseases, which are often incurable for a long time, which has a great impact on the work and life of patients, and has a high disability rate.

Neurological Diseases Diagnosis

Accurate early diagnosis and screening can help potential patients to change their lifestyles in advance, take active medication, reduce the incidence, delay the onset time, slow down the progression of the disease, and improve the quality of life. Therefore, early accurate diagnosis is a key factor in the treatment of neurological diseases.

Conventional Diagnostic Methods

  • Physical Examination
  • Physical Examination

Physical examination includes general vital signs, state of consciousness, mental state, cranial nerve examination, motor and sensory system examination, meningeal irritation, etc. Electrical diagnosis (ED) is an extension of the physical examination of the nervous system. In all patients with suspected neuropathy, ED should be used as the initial diagnostic test, primarily to facilitate better description and classification, not to identify the cause.

  • Imaging Examination
  • Imaging Examination

Imaging is the preferred method of examination for most neurological diseases because of its non-invasive, intuitive and fast characteristics. There are many neuroimaging examination equipment including X-ray, CT, magnetic resonance (MRI), MRI intraoperative navigation system, PET/CT, PET/MRI, SPECT, DSA, etc.

  • Vascular Ultrasound
This test uses ultrasound to dynamically observe the main blood vessels of the brain and assess the degree of arteriosclerosis. Ultrasound probes are placed in different parts of the head and neck, and echoes are collected at the same time to observe the vascular pattern and blood flow.

CRISPR-Cas System-based Diagnostic Methods

Biosensing technology based on CRISPR-Cas system can accurately detect various nucleic acid and protein biomarkers in neurological diseases due to its high specificity and high sensitivity.

CRISPR-Cas System-based Diagnostic Methods

Cerebrospinal fluid examination is one of the main criteria for diagnosing central nervous system (CNS) diseases. In the CNS, the cerebrospinal fluid is the susceptible area. When CNS lesions and cerebrospinal fluid infections, the enzymatic indicators contained in it are also disordered. CRISPR molecular diagnostic technology can detect analytes in cerebrospinal fluid, thereby providing reference data for the diagnosis of central nervous system lesions.
